Team Spotlight: Dudi Fedida
The #LifeatTorq Team Spotlight is a Q&A series dedicated to the talented and generally kick-ass team that form the foundation of our growing company.
Tell us a bit about your career path before Torq.
I served in Ofek (the tech unit of Israel Air Force) for about 6 years in several development positions, including team lead. Later I worked for a startup in Tel Aviv as a full stack developer.
Why did you come to work at Torq? What makes you excited about working here?
Before Torq, I chose to make my specialty as a frontend developer/leader, so the opportunity at Torq came to me at a perfect time. I love working here as a frontend tech lead because I can see my influence on the product and also on other people; but the main reason is the vibe. We’ve built something special here, and I’m proud to be part of it.
What’s the coolest thing you and your team are working on at Torq?
We do a lot of cool stuff! Our team’s tasks are far from basic UI things. The Designer is one of the interesting tasks I’ve been working on. It involves designing and implementing complex UI while improving my math skills 😉
What advice can you offer to someone looking to take on a role like yours?
Always be eager to learn new things from other colleagues as well as on your own. The most important thing is doing what you love, and it will navigate you to roles that best fit you.
Ok, now for the fun part! Tell us a little about yourself. When you log on in the morning, what do you do first?
First, I wake up my 3-year old daughter, Lee-Shay. Every day, we commute in the car together on our way to her preschool, playing music full blast, dancing and singing together. It always makes me laugh in the morning and is a great way to start the day.
What helps you focus?
It might sound weird, but people and noise keep me focused. During edge cases, I’m always at my best.
What are your hobbies outside of work?
I am a fan of everything that relates to football (playing, watching, and playing FIFA with friends). Also, I enjoy going out with my wife or friends.
As a member of #CoffeeLovers at Torq – how do you drink your coffee?
Actually, I’m not the biggest fan of coffee, and can’t stand the smell. I drink Coca-Cola as it is so much tastier.
How do you spend your weekends?
On Fridays, my family and I usually go on short trips, and on Saturday we spend shabbat with family, resting.
What’s the best series you watched recently?
Squid Game is awesome and I’m also addicted to The Black List!
